Your Server Does Not Support the Connection Encryption Type

Updated: 17/05/2023

Our mail servers only supports TLS 1.2 and 1.3 protocols. TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 are already deprecated by the IETF and are no longer secure.

In legacy Windows versions (Windows 7/XP) with Outlook 2010/2013/2016/2019, you may see the following error when trying to connect to a mail server:

0x800CCC1A - Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

Find whether your Windows 7 is 32 or 64bit

  1. Select the Start button, type Computer in the search box, right-click on Computer, and then select Properties.
  2. Under Windows edition, you'll see the version and edition of Windows that your device is running whether it's a 32 or 64bit.

To fix this problem we need to install TLS 1.2 at least on windows 7

  1. Make sure that Windows 7 SP1 is installed
  2. Manually install the update kb3140245 for Windows 7 32bit or Windows 7 64bit
  3. Install MicrosoftEasyFix51044.msi patch

Then connect using securely using your favorite email client. Below are the most common used ports:

Incoming server: yourdomain.com (POP3S: 995 ) or (IMAPS: 993)
Outgoing server: yourdomain.com (SSL: 465) or (TLS: 587)
